IT glitches prevents 3,000 families from claiming two childcare benefits

Thousands of parents are unable to claim the childcare benefits they are eligible for due to the HMRC website having IT glitches. This has left thousands of parents still waiting for their applications to be approved.

It has been revealed that the new Government Childcare scheme has fallen into chaos, causing many parents to become frustrated. Time is running out for parents as the deadline for receiving children’s 30hrs eligibility code for the Autumn term is Thursday the 31st August.

Not only are parents trying to complete applications for the 3ohrs free childcare scheme parents are also trying to set up tax-free childcare accounts.

Parents are being informed there are technical issues and these need to be resolved before their application can be looked into

The new tax-free childcare that was launched in April is also experiencing difficulties, resulting in families being unable to open their childcare account and pay their child’s nursery fees.

HMRC have said they are on track to provide parents with their eligibility codes in time to meet the deadline of the 31st August.

It is advised that parents call the helpline on 0300 123 4097 to receive the code over the phone.
