Are you getting involved with Children in Need 2016

Children in Need 2016

The children in need campaign is held every year and this year takes place the week commencing the 14th November.  The campaign raises millions every year to support various charities and causes across the UK. Although the main focus behind Children in need is raising awareness and money taking part in the week can have many benefits for children in the early years.

Getting involved

There are free packs which early years settings can gain through visiting the children in need website. This offers various resources such as stickers, fundraising ideas and activity plans to promote children’s development and to ensure everyone gains as much as possible from the week. Some of the money raised may even go to local charities which are a great support to your local community.

There are many ways early year’s settings can get involved including bake sales, sponsored activities and anything that involves spots. Many early years settings use this as an opportunity to get creative making spotty pictures inside and outside, spotty sensory bottles, cooking spotty cakes and spotty messy play. Simply completing the activities without sponsorship is a worthwhile causes and it raises awareness around children in need and helps others to think about making donations.

Each activities itself holds a wealth of development opportunities but it can also be used to build stronger parent partnerships by inviting parents to join you for a spotty stay and play session or maybe by encouraging the parents to bake cakes for a cake stall. It can also be used to create a stronger sense of community if the children are encourage to fundraise within the community or maybe get involved with a local project helping children in need, this may even be by supporting a local food bank as many of these provide for children who are in need.

Every little counts

Every small donation makes a big difference to the children who are supported by children in need so each nursery that sign up and takes part is helping children across the UK. It is for this reason that children in need are hoping for as many childcare settings to sign up as possible. This is a great campaign and a wonderful fun week for children and settings to take part in. Raising awareness as well as money helps the cause to go on and children to be supported.
