If you are thinking of building a nursery, there are some considerations to think about for example the nursery location, the access to the nursery and the cost. If you have a location in mind, always do your research and find out the needs of the residents. Learning about the locations can help you gain an insight as to whether this is the right location for you. Finding a location that is in need of a nursery will provide you will a supply of prospective parents. Ideal locations are ones with neighbourhoods that are expanding with families.

After finding the right location care must be taken to ensure the environment lends itself to becoming a nursery. The outdoor area must be safe and secure and the internal environment must have all the necessary rooms according to Ofsted regulations. Having ample parking is always a good thing to have as there will be times of the day when parents will be dropping off and collecting their children at the same time. Making improvement to alter changes can be expensive and can have an effect on the overall cost, therefore consider all options before making a final decision.

Cost versus nursery locations

When buying or leasing a nursery there are many expenses that are needed to be kept in line with expected income, therefore always look at figures and the potential earnings for a specific location.  Smaller building will accommodate fewer children, however larger ones generate far more overheads such as increased staff and supplies.

Meeting customer demands

In an ideal world all nurseries would need is a safe and secure environment, qualified staff, resources and a convenient location.However parents nowadays expect far more from nursery’s, therefore this is why it is important for nursery managers to be in turn with the needs of their community, eg extended hours, special dietary concerns, extra curricular activities.Choosing a location for a nursery takes far more consideration than you think, it requires you to source a great knowledge about the needs of your customers.
