Government give £60m to support children with SEND

Money is given by Government to support SEND children and families

 
Funding of £60m will be given to support children and families with SEND from April 2017. This funding has been confirmed by Minister for Vulnerable Children and Families.
 
The Funding will be used to help with changes made to the SEND System. £15m of the £60m will be given to the Council for Disabled Children’s Independent Supporters Programme. With many parents using and finding the Parent Carer Forums useful it will receive £2.3 million. Contact a Family will also receive £1.8, this helpline provides advice and information for parents at a time when they need it most
 
Funding will be invested in local authorities, rising from £4.2m last year, Funding allocated to local authorities will help make plans for the final year of transition to the new SEND System. This additional funding will support children and families with SEND, giving them the same opportunities as others.
 
The £60m funding from the Government was announced following a meeting between  Mr Timpson and members of the National Network of Parent Carer Forums. The funding will be available from April 2017
