Grenfell Nursery loses everything in Grenfell Tower Fire

Children at Grenfell Nursery are all safe

The latest fire at Grenfell Tower has left everyone at the nursery which is situated on the ground floor shocked and upset. It was believed children aged between six months and four who attend the nursery were in their flat at the time of the fire. After an anxious wait thankfully each and everyone was ok.

It is believed the death toll has amounted to 79 dead or missing and this could rise further. The blaze swept up the 24 storey building and flames reached 70 metres high.

Grenfell nursery that is situated on the ground floor is a full day care offering part-time and full-time care over 50 weeks of the year, as well as an after school club. It is a non-profit nursery that works tremendously hard offering childcare to low-income families. It also provides services to families in the form of a drop in centre.

The recent fire has not stopped the nursery from operating they have begun offering childcare from the Ilys Booker Centre in Lower Clarendon walk in the Lancaster West Estate. Nursery owners are in the process of looking for alternative premises in order to continue offering childcare to their families.

Sadness lies with the families who have lost their homes and it has been announced by Government that money will be given to the families to help them rebuild their lives.

In order for childcare to still continue for these families and to help build the community the nursery has created a JustGiving page, money raised will be used to replaced equipment and resources lost in the fire.
