Programme to track progress of two year funded children

Progress to be tracked of two year funded children

A programme which has recently been released and won awards has been given a massive grant to track the development and progress of two year funded children across England.

The ‘Achieving early’ programme aims to reduce the difference in attainment levels of those from deprived backgrounds compared to those from a wealthier background. It does this by supporting practitioners and teachers so they are better able to support these children to ensure they achieve and exceed a good level of development in all areas.

The grant will be used to track children’s development from point of entry in the setting to the end of reception class. This will take place in over 60 different settings across the UK giving an indicator of development from the most deprived areas as well as areas of the country that are more financially well off.

The programme is all about improving the provision of care and education that children receive as high-quality education can have a massive impact on the development of children regardless of financial backgrounds and statuses.

In areas where the programme has already been trialled, and provision has been improved so have the outcomes for children. The levels of children reaching a good level of development dramatically rose. The impact for these children will stay with them for the rest of their lives and increase their life chances.

After the programme has tracked these children over the next four years the true impact of the programme, the support for teachers and practitioners and the importance of quality provision will be clear to see.
