Reminding parents to refresh their 30hr code

Parents to refresh their 30hrs code every 3 months

Parents will be reminded by HMRC to refresh their 30hr eligibility code, however many parents are confused as to why they have to do this. The refreshed code must then be given again to the childcare provider, it is becoming apparent that the code being given is the same.

If parents fail to refresh their code then the child runs the risk of losing the place and parents will enter a grace period before falling out of eligibility. It is not up to childcare providers to remind parents, however it may be worth initially reminding parents to get them into the habit.

There has, however, been some technical issues where reminders have not been sent to parents, meaning many parents have missed the deadline on refreshing their code. Many parents have voiced their issues over the difficulties of receiving their 30hr codes and now having to refresh them.
