According to the UKIP they have expressed they will look into a full review of the childcare provision, making it affordable and accessible for parents. In order to make this pledge happen, they will
- Offer before and after school care for children for every school age child
- Allow parents to still use childcare vouchers as well as tax-free childcare schemes
- Provide emergency childcare for parents through their local authority
- Continue offering the fifteen hours a week of free childcare for all three and four years olds and two-year-olds
- Honour the Governments new tax-free childcare scheme worth £2,000 a year.
- Remove the requirement of using a child’s free entitlement with an Ofsted registered provider, this will enable parents to use this with a non-related child carer. The carer will still have to meet certain criteria to benefit from accepting childcare vouchers as a form of payment.
The UKIP are very keen to create nursery places, this will be achieved by converting office space into nursery facilities. The UKIP would also like to boost childcare provision and extend the primary school day by offering childcare from 8am to 6pm during term time.
