Using Robots in Childcare

Japanese Nurseries trial using robots to help with recruitment crisis

To help with recruitment crisis, Japan Nurseries are testing out using Robots. This method will help nurseries with the demand for childcare places which is happening in Japan Nurseries.

The robot will welcome children into the nursery, monitor their sleep, and whilst children are happily playing the robot will be able to monitor children’s body temperature. Vevo the robot is being tested in a nursery in Tokyo, following this first trial it will then be rolled out at a second nursery in October.

The aim of the robot will help nurseries solve the issue regarding the shortage of staff and improve the quality of education. With many nurseries seeing a demand for childcare places on the rise, recruitment of staff is now becoming a worry for nurseries.

Vevo the robot is equipped with many functions that a normal human being may not have. An alarm will sound if a child is unwell, highlighting that the child has a temperature. These clever scientific functions will hopefully enable a solution to the shortage of staff.

There are plans to market the robot from April 2018 for £28,000.
