Making playdough with the children 

Find below 5 top playdough recipes in child-friendly units of measure so the children can easily be involved in the playdough making process.

 

Recipe 1, super stretchy dough –

1. 1 cup of hair conditioner (This also makes the playdough scented so buying fruity or strong smelling conditioners makes this, even more, fun)
2. 2 Cups of Corn flour
3. Mix it together with your hands or a wooden spoon and enjoy

Recipe 2, Original non-cook dough –

1. 2 Cups flour
2. 1 Cup water
3. ½ Cup Salt
4. 2 tablespoons oil
5. Food colouring ( as much as you need to get the colour you want)
6. Mix it together with a wooden spoon to avoid staining your hands with the food colouring

Recipe 3, original cooked dough –

1. 2 cups flour
2. 1 cup salt
3. 1 tablespoon oil
4. 2 cups water
5. 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
6. Food colouring
7. Mix together using a wooden spoon/whisk or spatula
8. Microwave on a medium heat for 4-5 mins
9. Knead once cool and enjoy

Recipe 4, scented dough –

1. 2 cups flour
2. 1 cup salt
3. 2 tablespoons cream of tartar (optional)
4. 2 tablespoons oil
5. Herbs or spices (grated cloves, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, grated nutmeg, etc. Mix together)
6. ½ cup paint ( Great for a vivid colour)
7. 1 cup warm water
8. Mix with wooden spoon and enjoy.

Recipe 5, Edible playdough –

1. 6 Large marshmallows
2. ¼ heaped cup corn flour
3. 2 heaped teaspoons coconut oil
4. Food colouring
5. Add marshmallows, cornflour and oil to bowl and microwave for 30 seconds
6. Add food colouring and stir well until it becomes to hard
7. Kneed by hand at this point ensuring it isn’t too hot. If still too sticky add more cornflour and after that if it’s still sticky more oil.
8. Enjoy on a non-stick surface such as parchment paper
