Can i study my degree without being in a leadership role?

Question

Q – “Im level 3 qualified however really want to progress to level 5 but im not in a leader position im an assistant. Ive looked for supervisor or room leader posts and nothing as yet. Im in employment atm however due to funding i will be out of work very soon. Do i truly need a leader position job to do the level 5 or can i apply for it and be an assistant and and volunteer leader only on the parts of the course needed?”

A – “have a level 3 practitioner in the room that i am team leader of who is doing her level 5 qualification. You dont need to be in a higher role to further your knowledge. I say go for it, the more knowledge you have the better you can understand children and why they do certain thing ie schemers and things like that. I loved doing my degree and gaining more knowledge and understanding more about how children learn.”
