Creating an accessible early years training record to show Ofsted
An Early Years training record is an important document containing all employees skills and training. As it is an Ofsted requirement to have a training record, this file will be looked at during an Ofsted inspection.
A training record shows when employees have attended both core and CPD training courses. Managers will use this to look at who’s training has expired and plan training budgets around this. A training record is used to show individuals skills and the settings skills set across the whole workforce. How in your setting do you record your employee’s skills and training?
Collating and inputting employees training details can be time-consuming, however if this is not kept up to date, then the settings training matrix becomes outdated. The last thing a manager wants to happen is for Ofsted to turn up and request to see the training records and it be outdated.
So how do managers keep on top of this task? Some settings have individual training records for their employees, and others will have a whole settings training record. However who’s responsibility is it to keep these updated, is it the employees or is it the employer?.
Having an easily accessible file that you can retrieve at the touch of a button would great for managers, this would help when looking at individuals training but also when Ofsted request to see individuals training during an Ofsted inspection.
